Respecting Our Staff and Patients
We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Our team works hard to care for you, and we believe that mutual respect is the foundation of a high-quality healthcare service. While we understand that visiting a GP surgery can sometimes be a stressful or emotional experience, we kindly ask that you treat our staff and fellow patients with the same courtesy and kindness you would expect to receive yourself.
Our Commitment to Safety
The NHS Scotland Zero Tolerance Policy ensures that all staff members have the right to work without fear of violence, abuse, or harassment. This includes physical actions, written threats, or verbal abuse that causes our team to feel unsafe or intimidated.
To maintain a secure environment, we operate a clear procedure for managing unacceptable behaviour:
- Immediate Removal: The practice reserves the right to remove any patient from our list with immediate effect if they are violent or abusive toward staff, other patients, or visitors.
- Documentation: In such instances, the patient will be notified of their removal in writing. A factual record of the incident and the subsequent removal will be added to the patient’s medical files.
- Police Involvement: If an individual becomes disruptive, aggressive, or refuses to leave the premises when asked, our staff are instructed to contact the police. This may result in formal charges being brought against the individual.
