Your Right to Know: Freedom of Information
We believe in being open and transparent about how we operate as a part of the NHS in Scotland. This policy explains your rights to access information held by the practice and how we fulfill our duties to keep you informed about our services and decision-making processes.
What is Freedom of Information?
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 gives you the right to request information held by Scottish public authorities, including GP practices. This means that anyone, anywhere, can ask to see information that we have not already made available through our regular website updates or leaflets.
How to Make a Request
If the information you are looking for isn’t available on this website, you can submit a formal request. To help us process your enquiry efficiently, please follow these guidelines:
- Put it in writing: Requests must be made in writing (letter or email) and sent to our Practice Manager.
- Provide your details: You must include your full name and a contact address (physical or email) for our reply.
- Be specific: Tell us as clearly as possible what information you are looking for.
- Choose your format: You can let us know if you prefer the information in a specific format, such as a paper copy or an electronic file, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
You do not need to tell us why you want the information, and you do not need to live in the local area to make a request.
What Happens Next?
Once we receive your request, we have 20 working days to respond. In most cases, we provide this information free of charge. However, if a fee is required for significant printing or administration costs, we will notify you of the charge before proceeding.
Copyright and Reuse
The material provided by the practice is protected by copyright. You are generally free to reuse our information (not including logos or third-party content) for personal or non-commercial use, provided it is reproduced accurately and the source is acknowledged.
If You Are Not Satisfied
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your request or the information provided, you have the right to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner. They are the independent body responsible for enforcing freedom of information laws in Scotland.
